Hearing all the recent hacking news it is pretty clear that Passwords aren’t effective in this world of increasing sensitive information.
Thanks to FIDO Alliance & W3C (World Wide Web Consortium) who have found a simple and stronger way of logging into websites called WebAuthn.
This new method will require to have an external authenticator such as a security key or smart phone to access your accounts and will be connected through Bluetooth, USB or NFC. Users will get a prompt generated on their smart phone when attempting to login to a website.

The major browsers Google with Chrome, Mozilla with Firefox & Microsoft with Edge have all agreed to incorporate the new protocol.
WebAuthn is not quite ready and is a step away from the general availability, which is currently in Candidate Recommendation (CR) stage for final approvals.
