Its been some time since i watched a korean series, but i decided to watch this, and its basically a horror series of some sorts and , ive actually just watched 3 episodes, so i will update again after i complete the series. It is on netflix. The very first episode is captivating and before you even realize it, you’re already attached to characters you just met like two hours ago. I started watching If Only Wishes Could Kill recently and after the first three episodes alone, I already understand why people have been talking about it so much. I thought it was going to be just another dark fantasy or supernatural series but it turned out to be a horror series. I think their is a hollywood movie that is kind of similar to it but ive forgotten the name.
The first thing that really caught my attention was the concept itself. The title already sounds intense but once the story begins, you realize the “wishes” in this world are not harmless at all. Instead of wishes bringing happiness, they seem to carry consequences, the ultimate consequence actually. It creates this really dark and emotional tone because every character seems to want something badly.
The first three episodes do an amazing job setting up the mystery and then the revelation on what was happening was also quite quick. What really surprised me though was how emotional it became so quickly. There are scenes where characters are clearly struggling internally and even when they aren’t saying much, you can still feel the pain behind their actions. Korean actors ive noticed are great at this. I found myself genuinely feeling bad for some of them, especially the first victim. The visuals and cinematography are as usual very good.
The dark atmosphere, the quiet moments before chaos happens, it all adds so much to the experience. I actually started watching it yesterday night and i couldnt watch all the episodes because i was kind of scared because i live alone and i dont want anything spooky. There are moments where the show almost feels dreamlike and then suddenly becomes disturbing again. I honestly love when shows can balance beauty and darkness like that.
Another thing I’m already loving is the mystery around the main characters. The dialogue also feels meaningful because sometimes the characters say things that sound simple at first but later you realize there was a deeper meaning behind it, even if im just 3 or 4 episodes into the series.
And honestly, the pacing of the first three episodes is really good. It never felt boring to me. Every episode either reveals something important, introduces a new conflict or leaves you with questions that immediately make you want to continue watching. That ending of episode three especially made me sit there for a minute because I genuinely needed to process what just happened.
One thing I already know is that this is not going to be a happy carefree type of series. You can already feel the tragedy building underneath everything. It feels like one of those stories where every decision comes with a cost and nobody escapes untouched and weirdly enough, that’s what makes it so interesting to watch.
Overall, after only three episodes, I’m already fully invested. The story feels , mysterious, dark and unpredictable all at once. If the rest of the series keeps this same energy then I honestly understand why people praise it so much. I already know I’m going to binge the rest because there’s no way I can stop here now.

한국 드라마를 본 지 좀 됐는데, 이번에 이걸 보기로 했어요. 기본적으로 일종의 공포 시리즈인데, 사실 저는 지금까지 3화만 봤어요. 시리즈를 다 보고 나면 다시 업데이트할게요. 넷플릭스에 있어요. 첫 번째 에피소드는 정말 매력적이고, 당신도 모르는 사이에 두 시간 전에 처음 만난 캐릭터들에게 이미 애착을 느끼게 됩니다. 최근에 'If Only Wishes Could Kill'을 보기 시작했는데, 첫 세 개의 에피소드만 보고도 사람들이 왜 그렇게 많이 이야기하는지 이해할 수 있었습니다. 그냥 또 다른 다크 판타지나 초자연적인 시리즈일 줄 알았는데, 알고 보니 공포 시리즈였어요. 비슷한 할리우드 영화가 있는 것 같은데 이름을 잊어버렸어요.
첫 번째로 정말로 내 관심을 끈 것은 그 개념 자체였습니다. 제목부터 이미 강렬하게 들리지만, 이야기가 시작되면 이 세계의 "소원"이 전혀 무해하지 않다는 것을 깨닫게 됩니다. 소원이 행복을 가져다주는 대신, 오히려 결과를 초래하는 것 같아요. 사실 궁극적인 결과를요. 모든 캐릭터가 뭔가를 간절히 원하기 때문에 정말 어둡고 감정적인 분위기를 만들어냅니다.
첫 세 개의 에피소드는 미스터리를 설정하는 데 정말 훌륭한 일을 했고, 그 다음에 무슨 일이 일어나고 있는지에 대한 폭로도 꽤 빨리 이루어졌어요. 하지만 정말 놀라웠던 것은 얼마나 빨리 감정적으로 변했는가 하는 것이었어요. 등장인물들이 분명히 내적으로 고뇌하는 장면들이 있는데, 그들이 많은 말을 하지 않더라도 그들의 행동 뒤에 있는 고통을 여전히 느낄 수 있습니다. 한국 배우들은 이 부분에서 정말 뛰어난 것 같아요. 저는 특히 첫 번째 희생자에게 진심으로 안타까운 마음이 들었습니다. 비주얼과 촬영은 평소처럼 매우 좋습니다.
어두운 분위기, 혼란이 일어나기 전의 조용한 순간들, 이 모든 것이 경험에 많은 것을 더해줍니다. 사실 어젯밤에 시작해서 다 보지 못했어요. 혼자 사는지라 좀 무서워서요. 무서운 건 싫거든요. 쇼가 거의 꿈같이 느껴지다가 갑자기 다시 불안해지는 순간들이 있어요. 솔직히 그런 식으로 아름다움과 어둠을 균형 있게 잘 맞춘 쇼를 정말 좋아해요.
또한 제가 이미 좋아하고 있는 또 다른 점은 주인공들에 대한 미스터리입니다. 대화도 의미가 있는 것 같아요. 왜냐하면 때때로 캐릭터들이 처음에는 간단하게 들리는 말을 하지만 나중에 그 뒤에 더 깊은 의미가 있다는 것을 깨닫게 되거든요. 제가 시리즈를 3, 4화 정도 본 상태에서도요.
그리고 솔직히, 첫 세 개의 에피소드의 템포는 정말 좋았어요. 저에게는 전혀 지루하지 않았어요. 매 에피소드는 중요한 무언가를 드러내거나 새로운 갈등을 도입하거나 즉시 계속 보고 싶게 만드는 질문을 남깁니다. 특히 에피소드 3의 그 결말은 제가 방금 일어난 일을 진정으로 처리할 필요가 있어서 잠시 앉아 있게 만들었습니다.
이미 알고 있는 한 가지는 이 시리즈가 행복하고 걱정 없는 유형이 아닐 것이라는 점입니다. 이미 모든 것 아래에서 비극이 쌓여가는 것을 느낄 수 있어요. 모든 결정이 대가를 치르고 아무도 상처받지 않고 빠져나갈 수 없는 그런 이야기 같아요. 이상하게도, 그게 바로 보는 재미를 더해주는 요소인 것 같아요.
전반적으로, 단 세 편의 에피소드만 보고도 저는 이미 완전히 몰입해 있습니다. 이야기가 신비롭고, 어둡고, 예측할 수 없는 것처럼 느껴져요. 만약 시리즈의 나머지 부분도 이 같은 에너지를 유지한다면, 사람들이 왜 그렇게 칭찬하는지 솔직히 이해가 됩니다. 이미 남은 부분을 몰아볼 거라는 걸 알아요. 이제 여기서 멈출 수는 없으니까요.
