Dear Muse,
They say behind every successful man, there is a supportive woman
Behind every proud parent, there is a responsible child
But no one ever sings your praises
No one ever tells of how mighty you are
And how gracious you have been, to us wordsmiths
You come in days when we are down and days when we are high
You take on different forms and shapes, to fill our empty minds
Make our itching hands bleed
Bleed words, that mend hearts and crooked smiles
Words that give joy and fix minds
You are like the chameleon, great at camouflaging
You are sad, when we need you to be
You give words to our gloomy thoughts- an impossible task, other wise
You are gale, when our hearts are afloat
You take on colors of the rainbow
And you fill our papers with beautiful collages
Today, you are dawn
The next, you are dusk
You are the clouds, the birds of the air
The pretty girl down the street
That boy who never walks with his head held up high
You are the laughter of a child
The tears of a mother
The breath of the forest
Love shared between lovers and friends
In your absence, we are nothing
Simply beings with no thoughts
No words
When you elude us, it feels as though we have lost a part of ourselves
An empty space, so we give it a name- call it writers' block
Don't you see just how mighty you are?
They call us superheroes
For with our words, we travel to every corner of the world
We reach minds in sunken and high places
We breathe the world as our own
We respond quickly in time of need
But you are the cape on our suits
Making flight, possible
Taking us wherever we need to be
Making us whoever we need to be
Dear muse
Forgive us, for you have been highly neglected
The truth has been and will always be,
Behind every writer, there is her muse
Without that, we are simply humans
With enough ink, but not enough words
To you, to the magnificent way you inspire, make us burn afire
We say may our gratitude, never expire
