Productivity is always part of the question of our adulting lives. We are caught in a rue on how to become effective adults of this society, aren’t we?
When I have entered the adulting and real world, I realized how true is the most cliché saying we have heard ever since we’re a child: Time is gold. Now that I am a career woman, a Mom, a wife and simply me, I have my fair share of struggle squeezing whatever I need to accomplish in a day. Heck, I honestly believe 24 hours is not enough to finish our tasks and at the same time live our lives. Have you ever experience a day or two where you need to accomplish 10 or more tasks that are all tagged as “urgent” or “rush”? Well I had experience this and it was difficult. I was literally staring out into space because I don’t know how or where to begin. Good thing, I read about the Golden 2 Minutes Rule and boom, it changed how I do my task effectively.
I read about the 2 Minutes Rule from when he was conducting a 30 day Life Hack challenge before. I was happy that I came across this idea and ever since then is doing it so I can do more and grow. The concept is simple: Do the task that you can accomplish in less than 2 Minutes first before any task. Do you get the logic?
Well, why will you do those tasks first before the bigger and much complicated tasks? I can think of 3 benefits that you can get from completing miniscule tasks in 2 Minutes or less.
1. Increase of productivity
Credit
When you do the miniscule tasks first, you are already increasing your productivity for the day by 60% because you already have finished task that didn’t take too much of your time. Isn’t it wonderful to know productivity is easy?
I don’t know about you guys but I have this tendency to start on a task but when I am in the middle of doing it I find myself suddenly stopping then going on another task. This is my vicious cycle before hence, I was not able to finish small tasks as well as big ones because of my lack of time management and impulsiveness. When I did the Golden 2 Minutes Rules I was surprised on how fast I have accomplish so much in a short time which means more room for me to do difficult task without any worry that I might not finish other things on time.
2. Feeling a sense of accomplishment
I got a feeling inside my bones like a electric current when I finish my simple tasks for the day. I get this warm feeling of accomplishment and that always uplifts my spirit to do more and be better. It is not a secret that I love planners and To-Do Lists because I love ticking of tasks on them.
Ticking the boxes always makes me happy and proud of myself at the same time.
3. You’ll worry less
One of the most important reasons why you should do the 2 Minute rule is for you to worry less. Worrying less equals to less stress and frustration so this is a good thing. I like the adrenaline rush of nervousness when things are not done on time but a simple task that only needs a minute or two to be finished needs you be prioritize first so you only need to worry about the big problems on your work.
Conclusion: Make The 2 Minute Golden Rule A Habit
I am now doing this conclusion. Before I go home during the day, I make sure I already wrote something on my To-Do list for the next day so I won’t get lost and overwhelm myself with so much tasks. The next day, when I start working I prioritize first the simple task that only needs a minute or two to accomplish. In no time, I observed I have gone near or almost half of the things I needed to finish on the day.
Well, what can I say, make this a habit so everything on your work or mommy duties at home will be smooth.
