Here’s a novel take on basic income from the former finance minister of Greece.
The corporations all developed their products off technologies that came from government grants, so actually the taxpayers deserve a dividend.
I still have some concerns about switching to such a policy at a national level. This basically says the corporations will pay for it, but they can just move to a different country.
Such a system would need to be pretty close to global to work, but there are massive differences in the cost of living from one country to the next.
This is why I tend to think that basic income is most likely to work at a national level. Paid for?
Paid for by shifting the budget away from making quite as many weapons that we can’t even use without ending life on Earth.
What Do You Think?
Do you think basic income would be good for people?
How do you think it could sustainably be paid for?
