#ulog 14 Family Meet Up

Hi Uloggers,

There is no special occasion to celebrate today I just want to hang out with my family and have a late afternoon snack. We do not do this often now because each member of the family has his or her own family now and everyone is busy with their own. The kids with school and the grown ups with work. The weather is still rainy given the tropical storms that are about to enter our country. The rain kind of limits the things you can do which is quite boring. Makes me feel lazy really. I thought a family visit will be helpful.

I called my sister on the phone and asked her to cook my favorite Pinoy delicacy which is sampelut I love the creaminess and sweetness of this local dessert. We use coconut milk and glutinous rice to achieve that creamy taste and texture. The sweetness is achieved with the use of available local fruit like ripe banana. You can also add sweetened sweet potato or carrots. This is a very versatile recipe you can substitute almost all ingredients with whatever you desire.

My other sister was in charge of informing everyone to come and join in the late afternoon meet up at our parents. Despite the rain we managed to meet and share this sweet dessert. There are other dishes brought by my siblings. I didn't expect it but the result is like a celebration on its own. It made me feel happy and appreciate my family more. They were able to make it despite the short notice. I can tell I really can count on everyone in my family and had never been disappointed. Everyone had enough food to eat and we're able to take some home. I also love how the pancit was cooked. Our eldest contributed the pancit which is a stir fried noodles. You see no one has the time to prepare but I was surprised to see what everyone was able to contribute
