10 years ago I watched The Big Lebowski and forgotten about it. Few years later I have the cognitive ability to understand the movie and slightly inspired by it.
For the unfamiliar, the movie was about the Dude which had the same name with The Big Lebowski, Jeffrey Lebowski that had a wife called Bunny kidnapped by some gangs. So the Dude was told to be The Big Lebowski, pay the ransom and rescue Bunny. Then the whole thing went to a pretty twisted journey which to be focused on the Dude's philosophy.
The Dude character was very significant until a book was published by the actor, Jeff Bridges and Bernie Glassman entitled The Dude and The Zen Master. Yes, The Dude himself was a Zen like or even Christ like figure.
He is like cowboy narrator of the movie said, the redeemer of sin. Thus, he is The Redeemer, Christ or Al-Masih, The Messiah.
He was represented as the tumbleweed in the beginning of the movie. A representation of submission to the force which represented by the wind. As if the tumbleweed rolling was to remind us to stop pushing and experience more in life.
The relationship of The Dude and The Big Lebowski was like between The Christ and The Anti-Christ. For The Big Lebowski represented the fakeness of being successful in life. Yet, The Dude represented a more authentic, humble and down to earth existence.
There are actually more to the movie than the space I have for this Instagram caption, hopefully more can be shared in the near future.
So what was the relationship of this whole thing to the image above? Like the German Nihilist in the movie I guess.
Thank you for reading.
