The proverb Health is wealth suggests that there is nothing more valuable to a person than good health. Health means the body being in a sound state. Good health is a great asset that cannot be matched by anything else in the world.
The value of health is realized when one falls ill. There's a world of difference between a sick and a healthy person. A healthy person is busy with their work and has a bright and cheerful face. But when one's health takes a turn for the worse even the most delicious food travel and beautiful scenery seem dull. In short a sick person starts to see all the world's blessings as worthless and craves good health above all else.
The human body is like a machine. If one part of the machine breaks the entire machine becomes useless. Similarly when a person's body doesn't function properly they're considered sick and become dependent on others. And dependence is a painful punishment in itself. A dependent person has to rely on others even for their own needs and even their loved ones start to get tired of them.
Without health a person can't help themselves let alone do anything for others.
A healthy body is essential for a healthy mind. A healthy mind can only govern a healthy body. If we are careless about our health and don't treat illnesses properly thinking they're minor we may face worse consequences later on.
Eat moderately and work hard so that the food gets digested. Country folks eat simple food but their appetite is greater than city dwellers yet they're more agile and healthy because they're engaged in hard work all day. One way to maintain good health is to eat when you're hungry and stop when you still have some appetite left. A wise saying aptly puts it Divide your stomach into three parts fill one part with food one part with water, and leave the third part for breathing.
Exercise is also essential for health as it strengthens the body removes laziness, and brings vitality and agility. It boosts blood circulation allowing toxins to be eliminated through sweat. Exercise gives strength to the body and vitality to the blood. It is a pillar that ensures the strength and stability of life.
To stay healthy use simple and suitable food. Keep your body and surroundings clean. Take a daily bath with fresh water. Clean your teeth with a miswak. Wear clean clothes. Get adequate sleep. Balance work and rest to maintain health. Working when it's time to work and resting when it's time to rest is crucial for good health.
A person's best companion is their health. If that companion is lost they become a burden to everyone. Therefore take care of your health.
