Sometimes you hear things that are completely crazy and think they can't possibly be true. When you realize they really are true, a small part inside of you loses further hope in humanity. Just when you thought someone couldn't find a lower level of being pathetic, they pull it off.
I play a mobile game called Raid: Shadow Legends in my spare time for fun. I spend maybe $10-20/month on it for extra gems, the occasional energy pack, etc., but nothing massive. Others go crazy and spend thousands of dollars every month on the game for... pixels. I thought that was bad, but there's a level of pathetic even further beyond that. There are people who not only spend six figures on in-game items, but they actually pay someone else to play their account for them.

It seems a bit pointless to pay enormous sums of money for a game you're paying someone else to play, right? They do play a little. As in, they mainly just play Live Arena, where you're up against other players in real time. Since they spend ridiculous amounts of money they typically win most matches in seconds. And that's pretty much the extent of what they do.
How sad and messed up is a person's life that they think it's a great idea to spend six figures on a game where they own nothing in it and pay someone to play 95% of the game for them, just so they can spend an hour or two per day winning with no effort? If that isn't the peak of pathetic, I'd hate to see what is.
