When I am on my way back from the supermarket or from the sales of vegetables, legumes and having completed this activity, I have the habit of making an obligatory stop where they sell "COCO FRÍO" (COLD COCO). It is like a gift or reward for everything I do during the week and especially on Sunday after shopping.
There are only a few places in my city that sell COCO FRÍO. But I am fortunate to have near where I live the stall or place where the sale of this appreciated fruit and drink is offered. Friends of #hive it is a privilege to have this wonderful coconut water, which is otherwise very healthy and nutritious.
This Sunday, the stop was in a corner where there is a kind of improvised churuata, made with palms, trunks, wooden sticks, which are secured with nails and other rudimentary materials. The stand has a rustic vehicle or pick up where the back part serves as an exhibitor. And of course where they transport the raw material, such as coconuts, on a daily basis.

These days, in addition to the coconuts, pineapples are offered for sale that are harvested and brought from nearby towns in the state of Sucre. On this Sunday I was able to buy coconut and pineapple. I tell you that to keep the coconuts cold, these people have a cellar that contains ice that they buy every day to keep the coconut cold.
It is important to note that in this sale the man does not have infrastructure or payment systems with advanced technology or Point of Sale. That is why he only accepts cash and mobile payment. For many people today in my city both are prohibitively expensive and complicated. Cash is also a scarce currency. Mobile payment not everyone has a smart phone with an internet connection.
In my case, I plan this purchase so I set aside cash in advance. When I have extra cash, I buy more than one coconut and order the water to go. For this, I bring my own bottle where they add the coconut water, which is usually two or three. I refrigerate this water quickly to preserve its properties.
My son Gabriel likes it very much and I keep it for him to enjoy this delicious water. It is recommended to drink coconut water right away, but if it is well stored it can preserve its properties.
I also tell them that when the coconut is tender, the water is much tastier and abundant. Sometimes I fill up with just one coconut. But there are Sundays that I feel like eating tender coconut and I ask the gentleman to give me coconut with food. They know from experience and knowledge which coconuts have food.
They improvise a place like a table where they cut the coconut with a machete. They cut the coconut in two. When the coconut has food and it can be seen once opened through the hole where they place the disposable straw to drink. When we finish drinking it, the man cuts it in two and cuts a kind of improvised spoon that cuts it from the shell of the same coconut. This is to be able to scoop out the food.
I love drinking coconut water and every time I have the opportunity to drink a cold coconut, I do it. It is a privilege to enjoy this delicacy as it is cold coconut water. It is a refreshing drink of great nutritional quality and very economical. I particularly love coconut food when it is tender, that is, the softest food.
In these sales, you can see people buying like athletes, cyclists, people going to or coming from the beach. Additionally, people who park their vehicles and these coconuts are served inside the cars. In other stalls I have visited, besides selling the coconut just to drink the water and food, they also offer coconuts. Cuando estoy de regreso del supermercado o de las ventas de hortalizas, legumbres y haber cumplido con esta actividad, tengo por costumbre una parada obligatoria a donde venden "COCO FRÍO". Es como un regalo o premio por todo lo que hago durante la semana y especialmente el domingo después de las compras.
Son contados los sitios de mi ciudad que venden COCO FRÍO. Pero tengo la fortuna tener cerca de donde vivo el puesto o lugar a dónde se ofrece la venta de esta apreciada fruta y bebida. Amigos de #hive es un privilegio contar con esta maravillosa agua de coco, que por lo demás es muy saludable y nutritiva.
Este domingo, la parada fué en una esquina en donde hay improvisado una especie de churuata, hecha con palmas, troncos, palos de madera, los cuales son asegurados con clavos y otros materiales rudimentarios. El puesto cuenta con un vehículo rústico o pick Up en donde la parte de atrás sirve como exhibidor. Y por supuesto a dónde transportan diariamente la materia prima, cómo son los cocos.

En estos días adicionalmente a los cocos, se ofrecen a la venta piñas que son cosechadas y traídas de los pueblos cercanos del estado Sucre. En este día domingo pude comprar coco y piña. Les cuento que para mantener los cocos fríos, estas personas cuentan con una cava que contiene hielo que ellos compran todos los días para mantener el coco frío.
Es importante señalar, que en esta venta el señor no cuenta con infraestructura o sistemas de pago con tecnología avanzada o Punto de Venta. Es por ello, que sólo acepta dinero en efectivo y pago móvil. Para muchas personas hoy en día en mi ciudad ambas cosas son prohibitivas y complicadas. El efectivo también es una moneda escasa. El pago móvil no todo el mundo posee teléfono inteligente con conexión a internet.
En mi caso, planifico ésta compra por lo que reservo con anticipación el dinero en efectivo. Cuando dispongo de dinero extra, compro más de un coco y pido el agua para llevar. Para ello, llevo mi propioa botella en donde agregan el agua de coco que generalmente son dos o tres.
Esta agua la refrigero rápidamente para conservar las propiedades. A mi hijo Gabriel le gusta mucho y le guardo para que disfrute de esta deliciosa agua. El agua de coco es recomendable tomársela en el momento, pero si es muy bien almacenada puede conservar sus propiedades.
También les cuento que el coco cuando está tierno el agua es mucho más sabrosa y abundante. En ocasiones me lleno con un solo coco. Pero hay domingos que me provoca comer coco tierno y le pido al señor que me de coco con comida. Ellos saben por experiencia y conocimientos cuales son los cocos que tienen comida.
Ellos improvisan un sitio como una mesa a dónde cortan el coco con un machete. El cual pican en dos. Cuando el coco tiene comida y es que se puede apreciar una vez abierto por el orificio por donde colocan el pitillo desechable para tomar. Cuando terminamos de tomarlo, el señor pica en dos y corta una especie de cuchara improvisada que la corta de la concha del mismo coco. Esto es para poder sacar la comida.
Me encanta tomar agua de coco y cada vez que tengo la oportunidad de tomarme un coco frío, lo hago. Es un privilegio disfrutar de esta delicia como lo es el agua de coco bien fría. Bebida refrescante de gran calidad nutricional y muy económica. Particularmente me encanta la comida del coco cuando está tierno, es decir la comida más blandita.
Se observan en estas ventas, gente comprando como los deportistas, ciclistas, personas que van o llegan de la playa. Adicionalmente, personas que estacionan sus vehículos y estos cocos son servidos dentro de los carros. En otros puestos que he visitado, además de vender el coco solo para tomar el agua y comida; también ofrecen cocadas. Esta bebida por demás es muy deliciosa y espero poder disfrutarla y compartirla con ustedes pronto 🤗.
