There was a time when Amie was being bullied at school because she had a petite body and most of her classmates would often laugh at her. This had left a bad impression on her and as a result, she would often isolate herself and sit at the corner. Although this behavior had helped at times because they would often forget about her but anytime the bullies remembered her, they would start by shouting "don't look in the corner as there's a petite girl there" and hearing this would often make Amie shrink and wish she could disappear.
Matilda and Amie were not the same class as such she was not aware of what was going on. Eventually Matilda found out when she came to check on Amie in her class and she witnessed everything. At first she was very upset internally because Amie never mentioned or said anything but then again she tried to put herself in Amie's shoes and tried to focus on protecting her. Matilda stood up to Amie's bullies and gradually with her regular visit to her class, Amie started getting her confidence back and she was no longer the petite girl at the corner.
A few months passed by and both girls had become so close that they were practicing inseparable. Irrespective of what life throws at them, they would often share it within themselves and survive that phase by being there for each other and accountable.
