A little extract from the first book in The Letalis Chronicles

I was a little bit scared, but also very excited. He hadn’t a clue what had just occurred minutes before he had arrived home, and what I was going to offer now. He stopped outside my door. “Well good night Darla, thank you for such an eventful evening.” He smiled as I took his hand.

“Can I just show you something, before you retire?” I didn’t wait for his reply I opened my door and he stepped inside. I crossed and closed the blinds at the windows; the sun was just peeking over the horizon. He looked uneasy knowing that he really shouldn’t be anywhere but in bed at this time of day.

“Please sit.” I said pointing to the bed. He looked puzzled at me. But when I sat down myself and patted the bed beside me, he crossed and sat next to me. “I know you probably still see me as annoying child. So if I am about to embarrass us both please stop me now.”

I met his concerned eyes, as I lifted his wrist and put it to my lips. He eyes smiled back at me, so I bit down, the warm red river ran down my throat meeting with the tingling river that was rising up from my groin. I broke away and lay back enjoying the warm feeling now coursing through my body.

He lay down beside me, his head propped up on one hand; and tucked a strand of hair behind my ear, “Would you like some more, it’s just the sun is coming up I really should be in my room.”

I smiled a naughty smile at him. “I am afraid it’s already up my dear, you will have to stay here.” I saw the concern in his eyes as I propped my head on my hand and mirrored his position and said, “Teach me Marcus.”

He looked shocked as I moved the hair from my neck, saying, “Drink from me. You have earned it.” Then he said with a pained look,

“Darla is this one of your tricks? Are your parents going to burst in and kill me, I don’t deserve this, to be killed lying on your bed like my crime was defiling you.”

I was choked by his response, I felt so cruel. “I promise you Marcus this is real.” He studied my face trying to see the deceit within its features and then his eyes changed from pain to a look of awe.

“Oh Darla…” His eyes were soft. “ ..I am so sorry. I really don’t deserve this.” His eyes traced over my face like he was taking in every inch of my skin and I smiled at him, as I lay down again. “Please Marcus; I want you to drink from me.”

“Shit this is really going to happen.” His eyes were wide as he imagined what pleasure my blood would give him. I nodded, a little bit scared, but also excited. “This will hurt, and I won’t be surprised if you end up on that far wall hissing at me.”

He laughed nervously and kissed my wrist, sustaining eye contact with me. I saw his fangs descend and puncture my skin. The next thing I knew I was in the corner of the room, hissing.

He laughed at my shocked expression, saying, “Did I not tell you so?” I climbed down and sat next to him, irritated that yet again my body had failed me. He turned my thunderous face towards him and smiled. “Don’t be so hard on yourself; you just need to relax more.”

He undid his shirt and patted his knee. “Sit here and drink from my neck.” I did as he instructed, our roles again the student and the teacher, like when we were out training on the hunt. I straddled his lap tilting his head to one side as I bit down again. The blood this time came out in a torrent, waves of intense pleasure coursed through my body. As I drank Marcus lowered himself backwards onto the bed, whispering words of reassurance. As I broke away intoxicated displaying a blissful bloody smile, Marcus rolled me gently onto the bed. He looked down at me his face a picture of awe and excitement.

I sank into the soft mattress then a stabbing pain shot up my arm. At first I wanted to rip my wrist away, but Marcus was holding it fast. The pain began to subside and I felt a new sensation happen. It was like I was massaging his skin his hair, every part of him.

He broke away flopping onto his back on the bed. He was shaking, his eyes close, and his bloody mouth wide open. I rolled onto my side and watched as he remained like that for a further 5 minutes. Then his mouth curved into broad smile and his body stopped shaking.

He opened drowsy eyes and looked at me, he tried to say something but nothing came out. Eventually he was uttered one word. “Heavenly” And then he fell asleep. I curled up beside him and rested my head on his bare chest, and fell into a blissful deep sleep.

We hunted again together for a week looking for my rogue vampires, and every time came back empty handed. During that time I allowed Marcus to feed twice more at the wrist. To me it was purely experimental, I enjoyed the sensation while it washed over me, but I wanted to learn how to control my protective reflexes.

Poor Marcus was not taking it so pragmatically, he was besotted with me. I could understand, he was the envy of the other Vampires. To his credit he didn’t boast about it, but he did wear my bite at his neck like a medal. Although his bites were hidden by my clothing, I also did not actively hide them.

Although to me this was just a chapter in my leaning, I found I slept sounder when he was beside me. And even when we had gone to bed separately, Marcus was always pleased to wake up with me snuggled under his arm. The truth, Marcus was a beautiful dreamer. When I was plagued with nightmares of the danger that lurked past our boundaries, I would slip into his bed and his dreams and sleep peacefully. Sometimes I even manipulated his dreams to give them a more erotic theme.”
