Well, this post doesn't veer off into any of that, but it will make the couch-potato in you twitch and wonder if maybe you shouldn't get out more. It's about Ethan and his lovely wife's hike to McAfee's Knob, a place on a stretch along The Appalachian Trail where the workout will get your blood pumping and the views are simply magnificent. (Hmmm, am I sensing a theme?) This one, however, is done as a poem ... with striking imagery on the sensations of recovery, learning to feel again, getting back in touch with your physical senses again, coming home to yourself again after a long and painful time away. The English major/long-time writer in me was impressed right down to my socks with the artistry here and the imagery of the words. Definitely worth a stop -- and a few more of those positive thoughts that the return to reality becomes a reliable way of life for this fellow-writer.
