As you probably know by now, as individuals we all go through the growth process whether we like it or not. At some point in our lives, we are okay with anything and everything but we all somehow get to that point where those things are no more enough for us. That’s the point where we start to think deeply about our lives, what we really want, what we don’t want and the changes we want to make in our lives which include the kind of company we keep and everything in between.
They say show me your friend and I’ll show you your character and this couldn’t have been said any better because that’s just it. The kind of people you walk with reflect who you are to some extent. I understand it might not be the case for everyone but majority of carries the vote on this one. So, it safe to say that they company you keep to some extent influence your thoughts as well as your actions- if you’re not someone who already knows what their about. And thanks to social media, some of us get so into it we start doing things online which are bound to be used against us in the future.
You’d agree with me that everyone sees things from a different perspective. Your thoughts on a topic will be totally different from my thoughts on that same topic which is totally okay. We agree to disagree. What isn’t okay is someone going on to make or pass comments that are totally unacceptable. An example is someone, say a celebrity going on to blame a rape victim even though we all know it’s not their fault. This can lead to a lot of reactions from fans and the general public which can lead to that person being canceled. In that moment, tempers are high and all but if there’s one thing about social media, it’s that the internet never forgets.

In a few years time, this issue would probably die down and everyone would move on with his life. Then say out of nowhere this celebrity becomes a victim of harassment or something. There’s a high chance that the people on the internet will use their past comment against him in that situation which shouldn’t be the case. People do change and honestly, our opinion on things change with respect to our experiences. No one should have to bear the weight of their past opinions even after they have a new way of viewing things. As much as we believe it’s the same person, we need to know that physically it’s them but mentally, there’s probably a whole new person in there.
It could be me and it could be you. Let’s cut people some slack. Life cannot be without mistakes, give people the benefit of the doubt , allow them grow, allow them learn, unlearn and relearn. Life is all about perspective.
