I decided to write this after I read a post of someone teaching newbies how to Upvote to earn curation rewards, He practically taught them how to Upvote only big account so they'll have more chances of earning bigger rewards.

In my humble opinion, I think upvoting should not be entirely tied to curation rewards. If you read a post and you liked it or learnt anything from it, it is only fair you show acknowledgement by upvoting it.

Most upvotes on this platform are done on the basis of curation rewards. Everyone wants to share the curation rewards from big accounts or someone who has massive whales support. Even when someone wants to upvote a post that might not give him hugs rewards, he does that with a very low percentage.

Sadly, that is how the world is. People prefer personal gains to ethics or fairness. The world has ever been a fair place. Even Steem is not perfect. But I believe cryptocurrency and the Blockchain technology have a mission to correct some of this unfair practices. We can make things better. It starts with me and you. You can change your upvoting techniques from today. If you read a post that adds value to you, made you smile or got you informed, please Upvote it with some meaningful VP percentage.

Minnows too should upvote

I also noticed that most minnows don't upvote posts. They rush to place a comment so they could be seen, without upvoting the post.

Your upvotes count. Even if it doesn't worth up to a dollar, it counts. It shows you appreciate the post just as one would click the facebook *Like*. Next time when you come across a post you like, make sure to Upvote it.
