Years ago I visited the hot springs on a family outing, at that time there were plans to expand and build on the area, and the workers informed us that they would make a spa hotel so that people with skin problems could stay for as long as they needed.

Things have changed, I recently returned to this place which is located in San Juan Guárico Venezuela and I was amazed at the hotel they built, it is very big, There is now a statue of Dr. José Gregorio Hernández (1864 - 1919), a person who transcended Venezuelan culture and has established himself in other countries for his achievements as a doctor while he was alive and his solidarity with others. He is such an important figure for the Catholic faith that he has already been beatified by the Pope in the Vatican for miracles of health and his canonization is in process.

Returning to the area of the hot springs, they still have the pools at the entrance and the part at the back where the sulfur was more concentrated was closed, in my opinion, they damaged what was natural and the sulfur no longer comes out as before, the water stopped being hot and became lukewarm and the sulfur can hardly be perceived, I no longer find the therapeutic and healing sense of these waters.

But the place is still attractive for a good day of relaxation and family recreation. The atmosphere is pleasant, the green areas are surrounded by large bamboos, the pools have different depths and inside there are seats to sit and be in the water.

You are not allowed to bring food and only water to drink. Inside the facilities, there is a restaurant and also kiosks where they sell hot dogs, all at very good prices, ice cream, sweets, and more. After midday the site fills up with family groups, a family atmosphere is formed and not only humans decide to spend the evening hours, but also vultures decorate the sky because of the smell emanating from these waters, apart from sulfur an unpleasant smell of decomposition is part of this area, people after a while get used to the smell and that is why they stay in the hot springs.

Una tarde en las aguas termales

Hace años visite las aguas termales en un paseo familiar, en ese entonces había planes de expansión y construcción del área, los trabajadores nos informaron que harían un spa hotel con el fin de que las personas con problemas de piel se quedarán hospedadas por el tiempo que necesitarán.

En aquella época el azufre que salía de las rocas del cerro era muy fuerte y el agua estaba muy caliente para mi gusto, pero son aguas terapéuticas para sanar afecciones de la piel generalmente y deben ser así, lo más desagradable era el olor que dificultaba poder respirar.

Las cosas han cambiado, recientemente volví a este lugar que está ubicado en San Juan Guárico Venezuela y me quedé sorprendida del hotel que construyeron es muy grande, con varios pisos y ahora hay una estatua del doctor José Gregorio Hernández (1864 - 1919) una persona que trascendió la cultura venezolana y se ha instaurado en otros países por sus logros como médico mientras vivía y su solidaridad con los demás, es un personaje tan importante para la fe católica que ya fue beatificado por el papa en el Vaticano por milagros de salud y está en proceso su canonización.

Volviendo al área de las aguas termales todavía conservan las piscinas de la entrada y la parte de atrás que era donde salía el azufre más concentrado fue cerrado, a mi parecer dañaron lo que era de forma natural y el azufre ya no sale como antes, el agua dejó de ser caliente para estar tibia y casi no se percibe el azufre, ya no encuentro el sentido terapéutico y sanador de estas aguas.

Pero el lugar sigue siendo atractivo para pasar un buen día de relajación y recreación familiar. El ambiente es agradable, las zonas verdes están rodeadas de grandes bambúes, las piscinas que existen tienen diferentes profundidades y adentro hay asientos para sentarse y estar dentro del agua.

No sé permite llevar comida y de bebida solo agua, dentro de las instalaciones hay un restaurante y también kioscos donde venden perros calientes, todo a muy buen precio, hay venta de helados, golosinas y más. Después del mediodía se llena el sitio con grupos familiares, se forma un ambiente familiar y no solo los humanos deciden pasar horas vespertinas, también los zamuros decoran el cielo por el olor que emanan estas aguas, aparte de azufre un olor desagradable a descomposición forma parte de esta zona, las personas después de un rato se acostumbran al olor y por eso se mantienen en las aguas termales.
