After writing a review for Weathering With You, I thought I would continue to write about its predecessor, Your Name (君の名は).

Review
Your Name is a stunningly wonderfully anime film that is guaranteed to thrill. Superb scriptwriting coupled with amazing acting (or directing, since it is an animation) not seen since the retirement of Hayao Miyazaki. Director Makoto Shinkai plays with multiple elements, to bring out this romantic time travel anime.
First half of the movie is more comedy as we see how the duo deals with their new body in everyday activities. Towards the second half, the movie moves to a sorrow mood as we follow Taki in his discovery of the truth. Then its followed by a fast paced action by Mitsuha as she raced to avert the disaster. The movie finally ended with sadness, but with a twist.
As with most time travel movie, some parts of the show can be confusing when watching for the first time. But its not too hard to get it, even for those who doesn't watch science fiction.
Soundtrack by Radwimps is perfect for the movie too. One of the best scene of the movie was right before the below, when the duo finally meets and about to write his name on her hand, the music and song abruptly went silence, along with Taki's disappearance. Excellent directing!
Unlike most of Miyazaki's work, Your Name is set in modern Japan but still deals with the supernatural. The contrasting backgrounds of Taki's urbanised Tokyo and Mistuha's rural traditional town is a joy to watch. This is appealing to overseas viewers especially those who seldom watch anime. Indeed, Your Name went on to become a worldwide blockbuster, become the second highest grossing anime movie of all time.
Your Name is not another typical body switching comedy. It is not even funny, except for probably the first ten minutes. Be prepared for a romantic masterpiece that will soon be the golden standard for anime movies in years to come.
