Hey...!
Here is my third entry for the Triple AAA contest -> FOR YOUR CONSIDERATION (# 01): "Favorite Directors"
Director of the week 3: Nick Cassavetes
I think movies have the power to make us live in some way the emotions that develop in the story they present. A few years ago, I saw "The Notebook" and it really is one of those films that always remain in the memory. It is one of my favorites. And I love that it's based on a true story...
About the story:
Allie a girl from a wealthy family, will spend the summer in a house that parents have, in a nice town called Seabrook. There he meets Noah, a humble boy who only lives with his father, who in turn is dedicated to carpentry and various activities. Allie and Noah Both fall in love and start an endless and sensitive love story; which Allie's parents call "summer love." However, something further arises, which had been encouraged by pleasant outings to the amusement park, cinema, among others. One of the most momentous quotes that we can observe in the film is: When both go to an abandoned house, it is a beautiful house, but in need of repair. At that moment they talked about how she wanted the house, describing it in detail. Then in the room; Allie and Noah have a sexual union.
But, happiness would not take long to become misfortune. Allie's parents, noticing that the romance of young people was gaining more and more strength; They decided to separate them and return to the city where they lived for the rest of the year. They just didn't want both to have a relationship, the differences in social strata were a matter of importance. Allie was annoyed, but it was worthless; Everything was decided.
Noah, in love and heartbroken; he wrote on a daily basis, for the time of one year; a letter to Allie; that is, he wrote 365 letters. But, these never came when they were due to the hands of fate; Noah in the last letter, just say goodbye. Allie ended up bothering, because she didn't know that Noah had written to her and because of that, then she decided to continue her life. She began university studies in nursing and also volunteered to help the war wounded. In that context, meet Lon Hammond, Jr .; which falls slightly in love and begins a relationship that becomes a commitment. In this case, Allie's parents were in complete agreement, because this boy did come from a good economic position.
But, the day the wedding dress was tried. He saw a newspaper, when he stumbled upon the news that Noah had built a beautiful white house, this was as she had described it. And the impression was so much that he fainted. When he wakes up, he gets drunk while in the bathtub, flooded with confusion; All the feelings were back. He thought about it a lot, but decided to return to town and see Noah to face him.
Upon arrival, I admire the house. It was as he had described it. He knocked on the door and Noah leaves, they start a conversation and go to a small nearby lagoon; They discuss Noah's alleged lack of writing against him. However, they kiss and go home to have sex; from there they resume their romance after 7 years. They both knew that it was not correct, she was engaged and he maintained a non-formal relationship with a lady, with whom he only had sexual ventures.
After so many emotions, Allie was determined to leave the fiance. But to open his eyes, the mother arrives to show him the letters that Noah had written and also, to teach him that he had lived his own case in his own flesh. But, I opt for Allie's father because he had money. He tells Allie: Can you imagine it would have been my life?
After this, Allie decides to stay with Noa. In spite of so many difficulties, they end up being together and forming a family.
Mega Spoiler:
This story is told by a man who entered his wife in years, who actually suffers from a disease that causes him to lose his memory. It only has few moments of light. In view of the desperation to recover her, she writes her love story and always reads it for her (they are Allie and Noah). Until one sad day, they both die together. He suffers from the heart and simply stops him, while they embrace in a small hospital bed in the middle, of a lucid moment of his beloved.
My opinion:
A love movie, differences and an unexpected outcome. Actually the setting, cast and others, is very consistent with the whole story. It is a genius who has written the story and script. It is one of my favorite movies, seeing it makes me wish I had a love as passionate and sharp as that of the characters in the movie. However, the ending is extremely sad; It's like a stake to the heart.
