I recently took a trip to my local animal shelter because of course, I am a huge animal lover. As I walked in, I was instantly stunned by a strong, wet-dog type of odor. Nevertheless, I was there to visit the animals.
Once I signed in, I immediately went to the dog section. As I walked in, dogs in each cage immediately we're set off by my presence and began to bark without hesitation. I noticed most of the dogs were older adults and of the Pitbull breed. Anyways, still adorable.
As I made my way closer to the end of the room, I noticed that there was no noise coming from the last cage on the right. Thinking there was no dog actually in the cage, I continued until I reached the back anyways. As soon as I reached the last cage I looked down and found the most adorable surprise!
His name is Frankie and he's about 2 years old. Frankie approached me wagging his tail, excited that someone would come to visit him. He stuck out his little nose out to say hello and if that didn't melt your heart, I don't know what would.
Frankie is just 1 of the almost 7.6 million animals that are in animal shelters throughout the United States. Of those 7.6 million animals, 1.2 million dogs are euthanized each year. So what I'm trying to say is, next time you're thinking of introducing a new dog or cat into your family, why not adopt? These animals need a home too.
