Last night we had a major accident, there was a fire break out in front of my home. In the opposite villa there were some guests who were bursting fire crackers and one rocket fell into the open area between theirs and my villa where there are lot of dry grass and the whole area got caught up in fire. As per our society rules bursting crackers is strictly not allowed because ours is a forest area and there is wildlife also. But then still there are some people who just behave like illiterates; I believe even illiterates would behave sensibly. Time and again these kind of things happen due to some irresponsible people who believe that for their fun they can do whatever they want and wherever they want.
It rains heavily in this region, and that's why there is lot of grass that grows around, once the monsoon gets over, all of the grass dries up and dry grass catches fire easily and spreads it also very fast. There were 2 places where it caught fire, and one of them is exactly in front of my gate. The fire was spreading fast; we did not have that much time to call the fire brigade. From all the other villas people came out to help pouring water over the fire and extinguishing it. Took almost an hour for everything to settle down.
The villa owner whose guests create this havoc is being heavily penalized. They are not allowed in the first place to burst crackers, and if they wanted to, they should have contacted the owner and brought only some very small safe crackers which would not spread and not be dangerous. I was furious at night, even a little damage to my place would mean a lot to me. And fire is something that one cannot control easily.

It was a very scary situation and that too at midnight, everyone lost their sleep. After everyone's effort finally it got under control
