Well, I tried a thing tonight.
Granted, 7 degrees Celsius isn’t that cold, but still, it’s not what I typically consider shorts and T-shirt weather, especially not at night and with a chilly breeze. Just the same, after listening to some of Scott Carney’s adventures with Wim Hof in the book What Doesn’t Kill Us, I decided to try running a little exposed tonight.
At first my skin felt a little chilly, but after a mile I was able to take my shirt off, and by the end of my run, two miles later, I felt completely adjusted to the cold. I even found that putting my shirt back on provided too much warmth and that my skin felt uncomfortable as a result.
I don’t foresee myself making a habit of this, but I figured I might as well give it a try. Maybe next year, if we get some snow, I’ll sneak out of the house in my underwear when nobody’s looking and try lying in the snow. 😬
