At the tail end of my walk yesterday, Pokémon Go released a new batch of pokemon into the game, so I knew that I’d want to take a long walk today to give myself the best chance to get some of them. I encountered several of them, and even though it was still pretty dark out they happened close enough to streetlights or path lighting that I was able to get decent AR shots.
At around 6:30 I was just passing 10k steps taken and was at the “Saturn” gym where there was a level 3 Tangela raid happening. I decided to fight it, and the battle team that the game suggested seemed OK so I didn’t bother optimizing it, but it ended up being a razor thin victory, I knocked it out just as the clock was hitting zero. For the reward I got two charge TMs, so that was great.
I continued down around Skinner Butte Park catching more gen 4s, trying to get ones with good IVs and accumulating candy for when I decide to evolve them.
On the path back home there was also a Kicketot raid running on the gym on the Owosso Bike Bridge. Normally I don’t hit that gym since it’s a diversion from my route, but I figured I could get a nice IV Kricketot that way so I went up and fought the raid.
It was a pretty nice morning, here’s a photo of the view from the center of the bridge where the gym is:
