As a marketing tie-in to the Detective Pikachu movie Pokémon Go has a special event running where one of the features happens while you take AR photos of your pokemon, so for my walk today I knew I wanted to take a few AR photos. When I used to live on the other side of town one of the businesses I would pass when I walked to Maurie Jacobs Park was Abra Auto Body and Glass, and I had always been on the lookout for an Abra spawning in the area because I thought it would be funny to take an AR photo of an Abra pokemon there, as if the pokemon was the proprietor of the shop, but because spawns are random I never actually encountered any there. But now with the AR photo mode you can take AR photos of pokemon in your collection, not just wild spawns. My current regular morning walk route takes me to Maurie Jacobs Park, but from the other direction. So today I decided to divert from my normal route after the park to go take some AR photos of an Abra. I didn’t get any Detective Pikachu photobombs, but now I at least have photos of an entrepreneurial Abra.
