This morning I was very sluggish getting going, so I decided to take my walk to Alton Baker Park instead of a longer route to make up some time. In the AR game Pokémon Go, the Water Festival event has begun, and on the way to the park I picked up a fun, thematic quest at a pokestop. I needed to take five snapshots of water-type pokemon. Technically you can probably complete this quest by taking five shots of the same pokemon in any boring location, but since I was already on my way to a photogenic park I decided to use the AR snapshot feature of the game to take a photo of five different water-type pokemon in five different watery locations.
(Don’t worry, Psyduck, I’m well aware of the harmful effects of feeding waterfowl.)
After getting my AR photos (and completing my daily quests in the other AR game I’ve been playing, Harry Potter: Wizards Unite) I was tempted to head straight back home, but I realized I would regret it later if I skipped my mindfulness practice for the morning so I sat on a bench for a few minutes attending to my breathing and taking in the sights and sounds of the river. Then I walked home.
