Yesterday we went with my brother to the Brekov castle. It's actually a ruin but there is a large reconstruction work going on to protect what is left of it.
We drove to Brekov and then walked up a steep hill to get to the castle. It was hot and we were sweating but it was definitely worth it.
We got to enjoy some beautiful views of the region and we also talked to local people about the reconstruction. Everyone who works there is a volunteer. These people simply want to contribute to the development of the region and this is their way of doing it.
It's a hard work but they seem to enjoy it. At least they say so 😊
It was a long and productive day for us. We had a lot of fun and got some local wine that we will take with us next week back to Switzerland.
Here are some impressions..
