Today was supposed to be the last press of the season. I went a bit late to the winery but I walked to and fro - about 20mins each way. When I got there the first vat of grapes was already pressed. Everyone seemed to be taking a break.
Sitting with a glass of wine in hand and examining the hydraulics of the press. Apparently there was a blown seal somewhere and we weren’t going be be able to press the last two large batches.
We spent some time looking up the press manufacturer trying to find a cut sheet. When we did it ended up being only in Italian.
At that point we accepted that we’d have to postpone for another day and just washed all the equipment and tidied up. The good thing is that the last two wines are still fermenting so we have some time to try fixing the press or get a loner one.
Tick-tock.
