Hello everyone, I had a day traveling to town and back and still got in some walks at home and in town.
Continuing on from yesterday's post about the Lake Margaret hydroelectric system here https://partiko.app/@j85063/actifit-j85063-20190225t114627064z
We are now at the top of the 4WD track up the hill and in this photo is were the gantry we looked at down the bottom of the hill comes to when winch up.
This is the winch house.
General area photo.
The start of the old railway line that was used in the construction and maintenance of the 2.2klm long pipeline. You can see a small rail car on the left of the track.
When the new wooden stave pipeline was constructed about 10 years ago after the old pipe was beyond use. They also made a rail car that ran on the same framework that holds the pipeline. This is the yellow frame you see here sitting over the pipeline.
A pic of the pipeline snaking it's way along the side of Mt Sedgewick to lake Margaret. You can see a section of the old pipe beside the new one.
More to come tomorrow.
