It’s a teensy bit possible I’ve had a backslide In habits over the last few days. But that’s okay. It is normal. And you know what you do when you back slide, right? Eat chocolate! Just kidding.
No, you get back on track. As I’ve said in several Actifit posts, I’m not crash dieting or doing anything crazy. I’m setting up sustainable habits that aren’t terribly challenging to maintain, and don’t cause a feeling of deprivation. In fact, I’m a firm believer that those who feel deprived, or believe heathy habits require deprivation, tend to have a much more difficult time making progress.
It makes sense when you think about it. If you’re feeling deprived you are more likely to cheat and to binge. Not only that, but deprivation tends to mess up your metabolism and blood sugar, and both of those things play a huge role in weight gain/loss.
So, I don’t take that approach. I just eat lighter meals, consume more vegetables than anything else, and make sure I get fiber, protein and supplements that support a healthy weight.
And I also exercise. I have always done all those things, actually. But I had gotten lazy and stopped paying close attention, and some excess pounds crept on.
But they are creeping off now!
