Made a game today. Cover and all. Took about four hours for the rough draft, and I’ve spent a couple hours since polishing it on-and-off as I do other things. Was trying to get it done in 750 words, came in just under 800. Not bad.
I tried to figure out a way to make a game where storytelling was a focus but which went away from the traditional player/GM architecture. I don’t think I really did, but I added an interesting twist: the players are trying to furnish a character which the GM uses in the final act with the tools they will need to undertake their final challenge.
I let myself kind of relax and have the morning more or less off, though I did a fair amount of reading (including some more Neumann), and did a little other stuff.
However, I did get some time to sit down and go over a lot of Hammercalled math and stuff. There were bits and pieces that were a little interesting and I’ll have to look at them later, but generally it looks like the system, if run as intended, functions as intended. There were some issues in our group with power and balancing, but they turned out to be because of some confusion and not because of a problem with the system itself, and they’ve already been resolved.
So, yeah. I made a new game, improved an old one, and did some more. I was going to do a write-up for Velotha’s Flock as well, but I’m going to take an early trip to bed because I really need the sleep.
