This morning at 5:30 AM, I walked by this Squash on my way to open the chicken coop. We are experimenting with vacation and keeping chickens. Usually, someone is home to open and close their door, feed them, and check that they are protected from predators.
But this time, nobody is available. I gave them lots of water and food. Now, we are hoping for the best. Tuesday, someone will be home again 😀
Then, it was goodbye San Diego and we drove towards the rising sun. First stop was Yuma, Arizona for breakfast. Next stop: Dateland.
We tried a selfie to get all three of us and the Dateland sign in. Oh well, we tried LOL
After sharing a small date shake (so yummy), we did a powerwalk around the date farm parking lot. Btw. the only reason that we did a small drink is that we are under strict orders to not eat or drink in the car - water only. I am borrowing my son's car and am very grateful that we can use it and are following the rules.
Have you ever seen dates growing? Here is a date palm with nets over the date clusters to protect them from the animals and prevent the ripe dates from falling onto the ground.
We made it to Flagstaff around 3 pm. More about that later. Everyone is tired and in bed and wants to sleep and I better turn off the light :)
