Mostly just chores and grocery shopping today but did make it to the indoor track for some walking laps.
Went out for dinner with my son. Damn, I’m proud of him. If I get hit by a bus tomorrow, in my last nanosecond of life I can die happy knowing that I’ve done at least one good thing in my life — I raised a fine young man. He’s taught phys ed for three years in a dual language (English/Spanish) elementary school, all the time doing a side gig, thrifting fine men’s clothing for sale on eBay and other sites. But this is his last year of teaching. He’s going full-gonzo entrepreneur with his online business that’s been doing very well. And running in a 10-mile race next weekend (an outlier in a world where everything’s going metric).
As my retirement approaches, I’ve been thinking more and more about what I want to spend my time on after my employer does not give me a gold watch. I definitely want to garden more. Suburban homesteading? But I also want to be more deeply involved in building the Steemlandia ecosystem. So far, I’ve basically blogged and curated, but way back when I studied some programming. Never worked as a programmer per se, but I took classes in, or studied on my own, everything from JavaScript and C++ to Pascal and Perl. Yeah, it’s a long time ago and I would be basically starting from the beginning all over again but, back in the day, I had an aptitude for it. Maybe an old dog can learn some new tricks.
