I got off work about an hour early, today, so I decided to head to the park and take a walk through the woods. Even in the middle of winter, there is still cool stuff to discover. I found several different types of mushrooms on my little hike. I haven't identified them yet, but I'm working on it. I'll probably post about them as I learn.
I found a large cluster of these growing from a rotting log on the forest floor.
This one is possibly Trametes versicolor, although the underside was pretty smooth. It may be a look-alike.
I'm thinking this one may be more T. versicolor; only with a beautiful blue shade to it. I'm going to check more into it. This was my favorite find of the day.
This one may be what is commonly called witch's butter. NOPE! I don't know what it is.
These little guys were just little bitty saccules that erupted a cloud of spores when touched.
I have no idea where to even begin with this one. It was growing under the leaf litter right beside a well rotted log.
But, apparently I wasn't the only creature out on the trail. I happened across a tell tale sign of just how u forgiving nature can be.
Now, where I was hiking, this was more likely to have been done by a house cat than a bobcat or cougar, but it was still a little creepy to run across. Kind of reminds you that you're in their domain.
All on all, it was a wonderful little nature hike. I hope you've enjoyed the story. Thanks for reading!!
