Six years ago today I had a battle that took place outside of Trader Joes. Back then I was a petitioner who stood outside of stores and got signatures for a measure to try and get it on the ballot for the next election. On this particular day six years ago property management decided to show up and harass me. This happened ALL day literally. The cops showed up and sided with me and let me stay. It was one of the few battles I fought and won while living on the west coast. This took place in Vancouver Washington just over the bridge from Portland. If you live in Portland and want to know the exact location, the Trader Joe's on Chkalov street.
The initiative process is FAKE activism. It is marketed to take advantage of disadvantaged people. When was the last time you saw someone outside a store gathering signatures? Chances are that person was probably disabled, a junkie, felon, or a young naive dipshit like me desperate to find work and pay his bills.
Petitioning is suppose to be voluntary. Yet these were paid petitions. I was getting 50 cents a signature on this particular gun rights petition when this happened. Whoopdy doo! You are getting rich with your new career as a signature gatherer rolls eyes. I actually had two gun petitions. One was to expand gun control, the other was to expand gun rights. Amazingly enough, the gun control petition wasn't paying at all but the gun rights one was. Either way I was pushing the gun rights petition. In reality if you looked up both petitions the smart thing would of been to vote NO on both of them. The gun rights petition actually said it would put the state in compliance with whatever the Federal government decided to pass.
I know none of you are going to sit down and watch all 48 minutes of this video but here it is. I will be real surprised if even one of you watch the first few minutes to give you an idea of what I went through on this day. The cops show up shortly after the 20 min mark. And the protester shows up at 39 mins and 24 seconds.

I actually tried to sue Trader Joe's because of this incident without any luck. The lawyer I paid $300 for consultation with said I had a battle that would go all the way to the Supreme Court. He also said he wanted 10K up front to file suit getting the process started. Fuck that!!! Who has 10K to pay a lawyer? Especially a broke ass hippie like me working petitions for pocket change. Crime pays, ask any lawyer, judge, or politician.
The year before in the fall of 2012 I would stand outside of this same Trader Joe's with a label GMO foods petition without any problem. The following year, summer 2013, we were getting signatures on a pro gun petition. Go figure, if it's a libtarded petition like labeling GMO's Trader Joe's didn't have a problem with it. But when you show up and start gathering signatures for a pro-gun petition in a violent libtarded state like Washington full of Tide pod eaters and Nazi eugenicists this is what happens.
It took every ounce of patience to not get mouthy and cuss these fuckers out violently like I do in my rants. It is because of instances like this that have happened to me in my life as an activist that has lead me to be as radical and mouthy as I now am. The next time this ever does happen I will be getting mouthy with whoever it is that is dumb enough to try and fuck with me. May god have mercy on humanity because I sure as hell wont!
