I was browsing through Quora today when I read this question.
I thought to myself, "I wonder what possible good knowing this information would do for someone" and started to investigate anyway.
I spoke with my partner who said, "I don’t know anyone famous who would come out with that information."
It’s good that we’re able to discuss now more openly fetal alcohol syndrome because it wasn’t always like this.
People used to shy away from these kinds of topics.
The result?
Lots of stigma.
And stigma hurts the healing process.
I continued to look around for famous people with fetal alcohol syndrome.
I found a couple of fake-news type sites.
One site talking about Joaquin Phoenix.
One site talking about so and so.
And you know what happened? The deeper I dug, the more I realised it was bullshit.
Knowing whether or not someone has or has not had fetal alcohol syndrome shouldn’t change anything for you.
Could it help?
Maybe. But I’m still struggling to find a good reason how.
At least we’re talking about it though.
