After a short silence, greetings from Northern Iraq aka Kurdistan.
As part of the global ADRA ERT (Emergency Response Team) I was requested to spend the next 2 months in Erbil as Acting Country Director. ADRA Kurdistan recently completed the construction of a hospital close to Mosul with an Emergency Room and Primary Health Care facilities. Here we’re serving thousands of refugees and IDPs who had to flee from Mosul during the occupation from ISIS / DAESH.
ADRA is responsible for the overall management and administration. A recently founded additional organisation, Adventist Help, is organizing volunteer commitments from foreign medical staff and the day to day activities in the hospital.
And now it gets tense. Iraq closed all international airports due to recent political events happening in Kurdistan, which legally belongs to Iraq.
More about all of that in future episodes (depending a bit on if we get filming rights at the hospital location). For now, please enjoy the first episode from the roof top of our office in Erbil.
