Today we are at the airport. At Aurora international Airport in Guatemala City. A hot mob of folks wait for there loved ones to come through the gate... taxi drivers, money changers, hotel chofer's, beggars, tour agents, and various venders await you on exit. A wonderful smorgasbord of strangers staring at watches and at other strangers exiting, who look back at this sea of faces looking for familiarity.
Maybe you just took a 16 hour flight and were like.... ya know what I need right now...balloons.
Or maybe a basket full of trinkets and penny candies 🍭
Not blaming anyone for being industrious, who am I to say what people want when they get off an airplane and walk through the exit gate to perhaps take there first ever steps into Guatemala. Maybe a balloon and tic-tacs just scratches that itch.
I can tell you what some people may need and or want. Some may want some real food and a toilet after a long travel.... but there ride is late so they need to wait.
Luckily there are a few food spots and a little waiting area. Only the toilets have a unique little surprise.... no toilet paper. 'They forgot to fill the dispensers', one may think while trying to decide the next best step ... this is awkward. But upon investigation while scoring some table napkins.... there is purposefully no toilet paper.... last year the airports budget got cut. 😲 wow, that is a special little budget cut for an international airport.
hmmmm, maybe the venders outside could sell that.... a booming bussiness selling squares of toilet paper to newly arrived tourists.
Any way... time to hop in one of these shuttles that wait to take folks to Antigua.
Welcome to Guatemala.... BYO TP! 😜
