If you're in familiar with the Gambler 500, that's okay. Being my first time participating, I'm not really sure what it is. Many of the details are intentionally vague. From what I can gather, it's a 500 mile navigation race over two day mostly on dirt roads. There are no vehicle requirements or restrictions, you just "run what you brung." It seems that it's just as much, if not more, about style as speed and skill. I've attached a link:
My team consists of five friends with varying levels of mechanical and driving ability. Our chosen vehicle is a $900 1995 Jeep Grand Cherokee with over 200,000 miles on its 5.5 V8. The "upgrades" so far include jerrycans mounted to the outside, an oil change, pugs and wires, wipers, newish tires and hood a mounted shovel. The paint and stickers are still in progress.
This is an original Nixon campaign sticker.
We'll see how this goes.
