The Book of Proverbs teaches that wisdom is something that should not be taken in vain. Wisdom has a purpose, and that purpose is to bring order. And understanding this truth with the heart is what distinguishes the sensible man from the foolish man.
And King Solomon, author of the Book of Proverbs, set out to teach in his book the importance of this eternal science that has accompanied God since before the beginning of creation. Because it is true that evil is a problem, but it could be argued that, from an ethical point of view, a greater evil is ignorance. Because when ignorance prevails, confusion in people causes the most destructive passions to become widespread and rationalized in men. This is why the instruction of wisdom is so important, because wisdom educates hearts and prevents passions from dominating, and this was the great task that Solomon set for himself with his book.
This is why the Book of Proverbs begins its narrative by speaking of a personified wisdom, a wisdom that speaks to men in the most crowded places of a fantastic city. And in this city, wisdom imparts its teachings to men with these words: "Repent at my rebuke! Then I will pour out my thoughts to you, I will make known to you my teachings" Proverbs 1:23.
And so this wisdom warns those who do not follow her advice, her spiritual teachings, because those who do not are subject to the negative effects of the law of sowing and reaping, a cosmic law of balance and retribution. And so, however well rational calculations may be, the effects of unforeseen destructive events sooner or later manifest themselves, because in life, the errors have progressive effects. Thus, another teaching of this personified wisdom is expressed with these words: "So I will laugh at your trouble. I will laugh when you are afraid. Fear will come to you like a storm. Hard times will come like a strong wind" Proverbs 1:26-27. In short, those who do wrong will pay the price.
King Solomon, with his wisdom, sought to inspire and educate his people, Israel, on the importance of seeking the most excellent, because it is through this that the face of God and true spiritual blessings appear.
