Over the last decade, I have been privileged to take pictures of Chess players from various parts of the world.
One of those that stand out includes a picture of the highest rated African Chess Player and a 7-time Africa Chess Champion, Grandmaster Bassem Amin 👇🏾
I took this picture last year during the Africa Chess Championships, in Ghana, the championship where he won his 7th crown as the best African Chess Player of All Time! He is a medical doctor and a brilliant Chess player.
This year, a Nigerian was crowned the best Zonal Champion, and he went on to face eleven (11) Grandmasters at the FIDE Grand Swiss tournament. This player is with us in here, his name is Olisa Tennyson , and I have had the grace of taking a few pictures of the young man, including the following:
I would like to add the picture I had the opportunity of taking, of the youngest Nigeria National Chess Champion (female). This girl won the women's championship at the age of eleven (11) years old, and she rose this year, to become the highest rated female player in the country.
Her name is Quickpen Deborah. Now thirteen (13) years old, she would be hoping to claim back the title of National Women's Chess Champion.
I sure do hope you enjoyed the pictures and short stories behind them.
