Africa is known worldwide for its festive grandeur; the culture and the hyper-expressionistic dance.
Nigeria is crowned king of the continent in many respects, and it is (in fact, maybe more than in any other) in this.
Just like the beautiful and exciting animals we have come to know for their intelligent and amusing characteristics, do not show it all the time but at specific times or events, so also you can catch a Nigerian at the climax of their festive exhilaration/expedition during either of these two occasions: Clubs or Wedding. The former might not be self sufficient/exhaustive in describing as a significant portion of Nigerians might not believe in clubbing due to religious or traditional beliefs or other reason; the latter however covers every person from every tribe background and belief, here is where the showdown goes down.

In the last decade or so, the Yoruba tribe of Nigeria has seemed to dominate the scene with its superfluous illustrious and overly expressive outfit, food, and dance, they call this (rather, we call this) grand occasion OWAMBE (pronounced: "Ho Wan Beh")
An OWANBE has 3 non-negotiable characteristics
Fancy traditional attire:
If you want to go pro as a guy you wear Agbada (some however don’t go that far).

The second is the ‘party jollof’:
You have most likely heard of the legendary Nigerian jollof, it is a looked-forward-to part of any OWANBE, another exciting meal that MUST be involved is "amala" escorted with massive meats.

The third and in no wise inferior is the dance of the filled man:
After a good meal comes a great dance, both men and women, our dances are energy consuming, involves a bit of tact and a lot of showoff.

Wherever these 3 are involved in sufficiency, we refer to it a LIT party.
OWAMBE is life.
Another not particularly categorized but also as important as the top three (especially to the ladies) is the picture-taking. A Nigerian girl could actually dress up, put on full makeup and accessories just to take a picture. We know we are beautiful and we love to be reminded.
