This is loosely the third part of my AI articles that I have wrote recently here on Hive. This will focus on one particular part that I talked with my friend on that call. This is the recreation of 90s MTV.
First off, for the boomers back in the days, the MTV programming was very different in the 90s. There were definitely shows, but the shows were on the shorter line. From 6-9 and from 4-6pm. Video blocks were the strong and centerpiece of the MTV we all watched. MTV Jamz, Beach MTV and PrimeTime was the bigger blocks during the day. Here is a schedule from Jan 5, 1995.
In the 2010 something cool happened, Vevo was created and they decided to have a channel, not sure if it was a cable channel but it was an IPTV channel. And it's content was pretty similar to that of MTV, some VJ hosts introducing and giving facts of the different top billboard artists and introducing new ones every other week.
Inspired by those days, and an old episode of Black Mirror is possible that AI now can become your personal IPTV channel director and create a personalized MTV for your liking. Becoming the VJ, the data fact checker on your artist as well as give you a couch potato experience where you don't want to constantly select the music you want to watch.
This idea is already happening with Spotify AI Dj host experience. Back in the days I used to listen to the Radio and the American Top 40 every Sunday evening. If you want a taste of how it was here is a Youtube of it.
How similar is to the Spotify AI DJ? You'll be the judge, but the skill of having a personal LLM built as your content creator pulling out news headlines and giving you information bits as you listen to music on your car or morning jog.
So music videos, and arguably TV shows could be fixed by an AI DJ-VJ combo. Generating a custom avatar of different characters interacting and talking about the music in a podcast fashion. But will this have another level? Could a business or education version of what a DJ-VJ is which is a producer be possible. Certainly reading recommendation or some sort of Audiobook corner that talks about your different books.
This is already possible with NotebookLM Podcast feature where you can hear them talk and even participate on the conversation as a caller that puts a question and get sort out by the AI taking the book as reference. Do we need more AI Apps that can do what NotebookLM can do for other LLMs? maybe local ones like DeepSeek, Qwen or even Google's own Gamma4?
What other producer-entertainment-educator positions you can pivot the idea of a personal AI curator of content and even become a personal assistant that offers relevant content in realtime as you experience the world. Remember Google Glasses or the more recent Meta Glasses? Will visual display give an AI the format you need to get 'idea space' relevant to your current situation?
I am sure someone is working hard on creating a contact glasses that can provide that display.
What are your thoughts on this? Will you want this tech right now, or are you screaming in horror on the downside of being spied by an unkown evil AI entity.
