Mosquito is a ubiquitous insect in Africa with two wings belonging to the kingdom: Animalia, phylum: arthropoda, class: insect, order: diptera, family: culicidae. The female type of this insect is an ecto-parasite which possess a tube-like mouthpart called proboscis. The insect use it’s proboscis to pierce the host’s skin with the aim of consuming blood. The saliva of a mosquito often cause an irritating rash (a serious nuisance). More so, the role of various spices of mosquito is that it serves as a vector of diseases such as malaria, yellow fever, dengue fever, chik ungunya and others arbor’s viruses which render the insect a non-wanted insect in Africa.
Africa is the world’s second largest and second most populated continent of about 30.3 million km2 with 1,256,268,025 billion people as at 2017. Since mosquito is ubiquitous, consequently, everybody in Africa is prone to be attacked by mosquitoes.
Meanwhile, mosquito is known to be an insect which serve as a vector that spreads different diseases, most especially malaria. Every African man seeks for means to protect themselves from a mosquito bite. The most common way people protect themselves in my country (Nigeria) is with the use of insecticides such as Rambo, go-90, raid and lot more. More so, since mosquito have access to it host at night in most occasion, the use of mosquito net is encouraged by world health organization (WHO) in other to protect our self from mosquito bite. War against mosquito continues day after day, and the only way to be victorious over mosquito attack is by removing any thing that may serve as habitat for them (such as stagnant water) in our environment and taking necessary precaution like sleeping under a treated mosquito net.
