Not discounting your advice to keep your computers cool but I consider any machine that does not have sufficient cooling to work at 100% to be defective. If you have to add cooling to a pre-built system, laptop or otherwise, then it wasn't designed well. MacBook Pros (at least the one from a few years ago that I have) are the worst. If you use the GPU, the CPU throttles significantly. That's not acceptable for a computer that costs that much. In their drive to thin their laptops out another fraction of an inch they have sacrificed too much in terms of thermal design. I'd happily take a laptop a quarter of an inch thicker that had sufficient cooling.
