The closing of Wall Street this Wednesday (14) revealed that the retail giant reached third place among the highest value companies in the market. Now, Amazon occupies the position that was of Microsoft, company created by Gates.
Amazon shares rose 2.57 percent, leading the company to surpass the Redmond company for the first time in history. Its market value was $ 702.46 billion, 2.7% above Microsoft's $ 700.56 billion.
Ahead of Amazon are Apple, the leader, worth $ 849.24 billion, and Alphabet, Google's parent company ($ 744.73 billion).
At the end of last year, Amazon shares for 23 years on the stock market had already surpassed those of Microsoft, which has been on the market for 43 years, a 72% increase versus 41%. That difference is that it took Bezos to surpass Gates in the ranking of the richest in the world.
Experts say that if Amazon maintains these growth rates, the Bezos company will soon exceed Alphabet in market value.
