I love the name of this channel on YouTube which is Unbox Therapy. I think he's got a pretty cool job being able to open new products every single day and experience some kind of therapy or thrill from being able to open a new or unusual product on a daily basis.
While this channel may seem relatively easy to copy, he has been doing this for a long time and posts nearly everyday. He also has a professional camera crew and over the years he has received so many products that he actually bought a warehouse where he accepts new shipments each day. There's no way his channel would exist without something like Ebay or Amazon, but of course both of these companies have been in business for years and provide fast and on-time deliveries most of the time.
The reason he is able to get all of these new products each day is because every product that he features he is paid by the company for advertising the products and probably also gets 90% of these products for free. Honestly, I think he has a great thing going here and also makes some of his money by referral links at the bottom of each video. He has been on YouTube doing this for 8 years, and I only found out about his channel sometime last year.
The reason companies are willing to pay him to feature products is because he has good camera work or at least some expensive cameras which make things look nice, he also speaks with a lot of energy, and allows people to feel connected to some of the products in the way that you wouldn't if you just saw it somewhere online. A product is just a product without a human involved and usually isn't all that desirable.
Once someone features a product though it can become a part of their identity and lead someone else to actually want or desire the product for it's intended use cases. We are social creatures so when we see someone interacting with a product we are much more likely to want it. The more engaging the interaction, the more we probably end up wanting it.
He has a ton of videos on YouTube and there are plenty of other people doing this same thing, but he is probably one of the highest paid product reviewers on YouTube. Most of the products he features are relatively expensive though because expensive products are usually more desirable, and this phone charger drink cooler gadget is currently listed on Amazon for $68.
Is this one of the best jobs ever? Let me know your thoughts below. Thanks!
