American Airlines this weekend had to cancel hundreds of flights because of staffing shortages that were linked to weather disruptions.
Since Friday they have cancelled over 1,000 flights
There are over 1,000 flight attendants that will soon be returning from leave and more in December and that is expected to help with the labor shortages that airlines are facing right now.
They are expecting more team members with those airlines to be in place to meet the upcoming holiday season demand as this is one of the busiest times of the year.
Not only have things been difficult with staffing shortages but things have also been increasingly dangerous for those in this industry as well, as flight attendants over the last year have been harassed and physically attacked on more than one occasion leading to industry experts to call for a national no-fly list as a solution to the problem.
Right now airlines are busy hiring
- pilots
- flight attendants
- mechanics
- airport workers
and others involved in the day to day operations within this industry. With that goal to hire more they are hoping to have enough to meet that upcoming holiday need.
