The argument was not whether or not the research has produced results. This post was clearly about calling something "free" when it is in fact not free. I can agree that there has been valuable research and discoveries through NASA and its various programs. This, however, does not negate the fact that it is largely funded through extortion via government.
Allowing people - who have involuntarily made NASA's research possible - to finally be able to freely view that research is nothing to praise. But I would really like people to acknowledge the extortion in the first place and the fact that government programs are not "free" - and maybe stop writing headlines about it until they can comprehend those very simple facts.
