Hello Steemit,
Today I would like to have a discussion the concept of Anarchy and if a self-governing society is really a possibility. American politics continues to frustrate me on a daily basis and it seems apparent that corruption has truly won; the people continue to remain asleep to the problems of the world or most don't possess enough intellects to critically think of a solution so they don't care. I recently had my eyes open about the true concept of anarchy: absence of government and absolute freedom of the individual. It is considered a political ideal instead of chaotic disorder that the mainstream media makes it out to be. I recently joined a Facebook groups called Compassionate Anarchy and also found this website Psychologic-Anarchist; both are ran by my friend Sterling Luxan who is an amazing writer for anarchism and I really feel inspired to believe in a new type of hope and freedom with Anarchism. I've started to see government as nothing but a proxy for one set of humans to control another set of humans. The governments of the world seem to be causing more problems then solved. I'm still relatively new to the concept of Anarchy so I would like the discussion to work around the following questions.
So my questions are the following:
What are the good and bad things about abolishing the State?
Could it successfully be done truly on a global scale so one government doesn't just conquer a borderless land and defenseless population?
How long would civil disorder last if the governments of the world shut down?
Could we still live in twenty-first century society with the conveniences of a modern society (power, water, transportation, internet, cell phone service, grocery stores, etc.) or would we just get thrown back into the dark ages all over again?
How would we punish those that do wrong (rape, child molestation, crimes against humanity, etc.) or can we even collectively punish since there is no law saying they did anything wrong or governing body to enforce those nonexistent laws?
Could Globalization continue to function so we could continue to build relationships and trade on an international level?
What would you pursue if anarchism became a reality?
Do you believe in Anarchy as a legitimate alternative or do you still have faith in the State?
And finally what would stop communities from forming and conquering other communities just to eventually creating governments and war all over again?
Thanks,
Dennis
