Once upon a time the law of the jungle ruled human interaction. Tribes and clans were formed to protect what mattered most. Hunting grounds, farming lands and their women and children. Tribes begat Monarchies, Republics and Empires. Conquest and Slavery were the norm.
In 1776 a new nation was formed based on the same rules of conquest that Alexander perfected and Victoria claimed over India.
Since then, a new morality has taken root and slavery based on genetics was outlawed. But, The abhorrence of the whip combined with economic pressures of the empire has given way to the Enslavement of Everyone by way of Income Taxes; One insidious institution traded for another.
