My anarchist boyfriend and i went on Thanksgiving vacation the last several days - we ended up in this small little town that had some very nice things in it that kept our interest and we stayed over - and it had a HUGE police force for a tiny little town...
We were going to take a drive to a place that was about 7 blocks away from our hotel room, because it was getting very cold outside and it was all down hill to where we were going and we knew we would have to walk all the way back up the hill afterward and we were thinking driving would sure be nice...
Until my bff said "wait a minute!!! Those cops are bored!!! Why don't we just walk instead, because if we drive it is more than likely that they will know we are from out of town and they will pull us over..just for entertainment."
So we walked instead - got a little exercise and had no dealings with the po-po after all, but listening to Alice's Restaurant, just reminded me of that situation the other day, which always reminds me of Mark Passio's
When he reminds us that we are living under duress -
When my decision for an action considers avoiding running into the po-po - I am not living in free country any more and maybe I never have...
